A BIT ABOUT ME
I have over 25 years experience as a nurse working with families in the communities of Leeds. I first became an infant massage instructor in 2005 and have delivered to parent groups and one to one in the home .
I am passionate about what Infant Massage offers to both babies and their parents /caregivers. The bond you create with your infant shapes their capacity for health and the positive relationship they have with themselves, as well as others. The way infant massage uses the senses to stimulate the nervous, immune and hormone systems helps shape our infants social, emotional and physical health. This lasts throughout childhood into adulthood.

COURSE BACKGROUND
The International Association of Infant Massage (IAIM) course promotes nurturing touch and encourages love and feelings of value and respect with parents, caregivers and children throughout the world. It is practiced in nearly 70 countries worldwide and continues to grow. Its roots are from India where the founder Vimala McClure originally observed infant massage. It was responsible for the calm and happy infants she was involved in caring for in the orphanages in the 1970’s.She went onto develop her experience with the massage when she had her first child who suffered with colic. She found it strengthened her relationship with him alongside giving him relief from his discomfort. It evolved into a more structured program when a neonatal nurse and other health professionals became involved. The organisation has gone from strength to strength and still maintains its principles, values and an up to date research base around the benefits of the massage.
